Aretha Lousie Franklin was born in March 25, 1942 in Memphis , Tennesse. She is a singer, song-writter and pianist. She is known as The Queen of The Soul. Aretha was 12 years old when she was promoted within the choir to become a featured solo vocalist. Aretha made her first recording as a gospel singer at the age of 14. Aretha signed with Columbia Records in 1960. She married Ted White, a business man in 1961. In 1987 she became the first female artist to be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her latest album is "So Damn Happy". Rolling stones magazine put her as 1# on the list of "The Greatest Singers of All Time". On November 9, 2005 she was honor wih the Presidential Medal of Freedom, at the white house, and she has been winning a lot of rewards for her magical singing talent.

Aretha didnt only inspiried her fans and people, she inspired other singers that came after her. "Time" nominated Franklin as one of the most influential people of the twentieth century. Her powerful feminist songs inspired a lot of women. The lyrics to her songs were mostly towards women but it also insipired men.

Aretha is on the list of the greatest singer of Rock n' Roll because she was really influential to women, and her music inspired a lot of people. She was and still is one of the best singers of all time. So many people liked her and still do, specially women because of the messages she gave on her songs.
